Following the recent introduction of the controversial Luce EV, the iconic automaker has unveiled its first manual transmission in over a decade—kind of. The latest model, the 12Cilindri Manuale, is equipped with a transmission that seamlessly integrates both automatic and manual driving modes.

The highlight of this new variant is its unique transmission, a feature that has not graced a Ferrari since the 2012 California. Interestingly, while it sports the name “manual,” the 12Cilindri does not have a traditional manual gear system. Instead, it comes equipped with a dual-clutch mechanism paired with what Ferrari calls a “Manuale-by-wire” setup that simulates a true stick shift experience. Although there is no direct link between the transmission and the engine, the system includes a clutch and a gated shifter featuring a polished steel knob, allowing the driver to navigate through the first six gears of the V-12 engine.

Driving Experience
This innovative technology, created by Ferrari’s specialists, is designed to replicate the experience of a classic manual transmission. By starting the vehicle with their foot on the electronic clutch pedal, the driver can experience a true manual drive, complete with the possibility of stalling. Conversely, for those who prefer a more relaxed driving experience, starting the engine with a foot on the brake allows access to the last two gears, with the option to switch to automatic mode anytime while on the move.
Performance and Design
While the 12Cilindri boasts an advanced gearbox, its engine remains unchanged. The naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V-12 engine still delivers an impressive 819 horsepower and 500 ft-lbs of torque, with a redline of 9,500 rpm. Both the standard and manual variants offer identical performance, reaching 62 mph from a standstill in just 2.9 seconds and achieving a top speed of 211 mph. Although the exterior and interior designs are largely consistent, there is a revamped shifter on the center console.

Limited to just 1,499 units, the 12Cilindri Manuale is set to become a coveted collectors’ item. Interested buyers will need to act swiftly, with a starting price of €590,000, equivalent to approximately $674,000.
