The Orient Express invites travelers to embark on a contemporary Grand Tour. This luxurious train service has introduced a captivating five-day itinerary through Italy, drawing inspiration from the grand voyages of European aristocrats. Passengers will traverse from Rome to Sicily and back, with the iconic La Dolce Vita train serving as the opulent home base throughout the journey.
The adventure begins in the Eternal City, where travelers can savor lunch while enjoying views of the picturesque countryside en route to Venice. Arriving in the early evening, a private water taxi will navigate through the city’s intricate canals, allowing exploration of local bars or selected excursions that showcase Venice from fresh perspectives. In the evening, guests can unwind as the Bar Cart animates the atmosphere with live entertainment and music.

The next destination is Matera, distinguished for its ancient Sassi cave dwellings carved into cliff faces. Here, visitors can wander through its historic streets before continuing to Sicily, where a dinner crafted by Michelin three-star chef Heinz Beck awaits. The following morning, with olive groves and dramatic cliffs framed by the horizon, passengers will travel to Sicily. The train will be transported by ferry across the Strait of Messina, surrounded by the sparkling Mediterranean Sea. The journey will culminate in the breathtaking cities of Taormina and Palermo before a return to Rome, effectively completing this grand tour.
