Every June, fashion aficionados converge in Florence for Pitti Uomo, heralding a month filled with trade shows, runway presentations, and lively soirées across Europe. Marking its 110th iteration, this year’s event showcased 730 brands unveiling their spring/summer 2027 collections.
Pitti serves as the initial landmark on the fashion week calendar, which often generates a buzz; attendees are still fresh, avoiding fatigue from a marathon of shows. Unlike the front-row experience, guests can engage with designers and interact with garments up close. It acts as a caffeine boost, igniting enthusiasm for the festivities that follow.
However, this season’s offerings at Fortezza da Basso fell short of igniting enthusiasm. Many brands relied on tried-and-true formulas instead of pushing the envelope with fresh designs. The catwalks produced few unique or compelling trends. Pitti Immagine CEO, Ivano Cauli, pointed out a notable decline of 1.7 percent in the menswear market, dropping to €9.38 billion from 2024 to 2025. Historically, fashion tends to become increasingly commercial during economic downturns. This raises the question: will this pattern hold for the upcoming season? Only time will tell.
Despite the muted atmosphere, the three-day event wasn’t without its memorable moments.
Highlights from Pitti Uomo 2026
Women Dominated Street Style
Over the course of the three days, attendees became the subject of street-style photography, a hallmark of Pitti Uomo. This year, however, it was the women who captured the spotlight, showcasing more innovative styles than many men. Their outfits echoed the tailoring themes presented in the tradeshow, yet often featured a more feminine silhouette and approach.

Sunflower’s First Show
In a noteworthy collaboration with Copenhagen Fashion Week to celebrate its 20-year milestone, Nordic brand Sunflower presented its inaugural runway show in Florence. Despite the collection’s title, ‘No Soundtrack’, listeners were treated to the subtleties of a live pianist. The garments fused Italian flair with Danish minimalism, featuring a mix of Canadian tuxedos, open-collar suits, and bold monochromatic ensembles crafted in denim and leather. This collection served as a fitting tribute to both cultures.

Brown Tailoring Emerges
Although the forthcoming summer trends remain uncertain, attendees at Pitti marked brown tailoring as a standout choice. Despite sweltering temperatures reaching 94 degrees, many opted for full suits with ties. Casual accessories like caps and sandals complemented earthy shades of soil, caramel, and chocolate hues, creating an effortless summer look.

The JiyongKim Installation
Korean brand JiyongKim captivated audiences with an installation spotlighting the natural sun-bleaching technique, which has become a hallmark of the designer’s collections. Displayed in the same pavilion as their new collection, 98 raincoats hung from two racks, each one showcasing a different stage of the sun-bleaching process. This not only highlighted the designer’s innovative methods but also underscored the premium quality of fabrics sourced from both Japan and Italy.
