The British Pullman, A Belmond Train, is set to introduce Celia, a private dining carriage, in early summer 2026, marking its first collaboration with filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and designer Catherine Martin.
This stylish train, which is a sister to the renowned Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, consists of ten refurbished carriages from the 1920s and ‘30s and operates from February to December from London’s Victoria Station. With a capacity for up to 12 guests, Celia will offer a cocktail bar, lounge, and entertainment space available for private hire.
According to Adam Baylis-Waterlow, the general manager of British Pullman, “Celia provides a unique opportunity to experience a chartered train atmosphere, marking a significant milestone for The British Pullman in decades.”
Inside Celia, the decor reflects Luhrmann’s signature theatrical style, inspired by a fictional character, Celia, a leading lady from the 1930s. She receives her own Pullman carriage after an iconic performance as Titania in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
“Entering the carriage feels like entering a different realm,” Luhrmann states. “Guests become part of a narrative experience—a magical journey filled with exquisite cuisine, music, and laughter.”
Elements of Art Deco can be seen throughout the carriage, harmonizing Luhrmann’s creative vision with traditional touches. Marquetry panels portraying English pastoral scenes and floral motifs are evident on oak-wood floors, all designed to foster a unique auditory experience. Even the custom fragrance has been thoughtfully chosen by Luhrmann and Martin.

The tableware, crafted by renowned British artisans including Duchess China for crockery, David Mellor for cutlery, and Tom Dixon for glassware, adds to the luxurious experience.
Martin shares her vision, stating that the carriage will be a space where guests can enjoy dining, dancing, and celebrating life while enjoying a reprieve from the daily grind.

The dining experience includes a dedicated team providing a meticulously prepared three-course meal, featuring traditional English dishes like beef Wellington and chicken liver parfait. Guests can also indulge in a unique cocktail list designed by mixologist Monica Berg, with the option to customize their bar selections. Live performances including DJ sets can be arranged upon request.

Bespoke itineraries will be available for various experiences, including day trips to historic locations like Oxford and Bath, visits to estates such as Blenheim Palace, and events such as the Goodwood Revival.
Gary Franklin, senior vice president of trains and cruises at Belmond, emphasizes the uniqueness of Celia. He states, “This is about personal storytelling and creating one’s own immersive experience, enhanced by the artistic visions of Luhrmann and Martin.”
Private bookings for Celia on the British Pullman, A Belmond Train, start at $20,500.
