Coqodaq, known for its caviar-topped chicken nuggets, first opened in New York City in early 2024 to immediate acclaim, drawing long lines of eager diners. With reservations quickly disappearing and limited walk-in options, the restaurant has remained a sought-after destination even two years post-launch.
Londoners now have the opportunity to indulge in Coqodaq’s distinctive flavors at a limited-time pop-up hosted at Gordon Ramsay’s Lucky Cat Mayfair.
Simon Kim, the Korean restaurateur behind Cote Steakhouse, has crafted a menu at Coqodaq that juxtaposes fine dining with playful, late-night fare. Often referred to as the ‘Cathedral of Fried Chicken,’ the establishment offers a range of dishes designed for a whimsical dining experience.
The menu features signature items like chicken nuggets topped with premium Golden Daurenki caviar, alongside options such as dressed oysters, onion rings, and indulgent gruyere mac and cheese. For those who want to go all out, a Colonel Sanders-inspired fried chicken bucket comes with Korean-style condiments, including pickled vegetables and gochujang, completed by a soft serve dessert.
Coqodaq prioritizes healthier fried chicken by using certified humane, hormone- and antibiotic-free chicken and a gluten-free rice flour batter, which can retain significantly less fat during cooking.
At the Lucky Cat pop-up, diners will find the famed Golden Daurenki caviar 24 Karat Golden Nugget, alongside a Black Gold variation accented with seasonal truffles. The menu also includes a bluefin tuna tartare, spiced with chili and soy sauce. For added convenience, takeout options will be available.
In the U.S., Coqodaq is recognized for pairing its fried chicken with champagne, which cuts through the richness of the dish. At the London pop-up, the popular nuggets will be served with Perrier – Jouët Belle Epoque, a staple in many Ramsay establishments. The Coqodaq team will also introduce their signature cocktail, the Double Deuce, a refreshing blend of melon, vodka, and fizz, perfectly timed to coincide with Wimbledon.
Gordon Ramsay has expressed admiration for Simon Kim’s work in New York, noting that Coqodaq offers some of the finest fried chicken available. The pop-up at Lucky Cat Mayfair is set to run from June 29 to July 12, with tables available for those looking to explore this culinary experience.
